Rock 'n' Roll Robert

Heute war wieder so ein Tag, an dem man aufpassen muss, dass sich das Gemüt nicht ebenso grau färbt wie der Himmel vor der Haustür. Regen und Wind in Kombination sorgen für Wetterwarnung orange. Ungefähr so muss die Wetterlage gewesen sein als Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann seine Geschichte vom Fliegenden Robert schrieb:

bleiben Mädchen oder Buben
hübsch daheim in ihren Stuben."

Zum Glück haben wir neben unserem Wohnzimmer einen langen Flur, der wunderbar zum Rollen einlädt, um wenigstens etwas Bewegung in so einen Stubenhockertag zu bringen. Wagemutige Eltern mögen dort bereits Rollschuhe und Skateboard stationiert haben. Wir haben die etwas seichtere Variante gewählt nämlich mit diesen Rollbrettern.

Ursprünglich haben wir diese Möbelroller in einem Discounter im Ort für fünf Euro erworben, um größere Einrichtungsstücke zu transportieren. Unsere Kinder fanden es aber viel spannender, sich selbst drauf zusetzen, zu legen oder gar zu stellen. Bisher hat uns das schon über viele Regen- und Sturmtage gerettet. 

It is one of those days where you have to try hard that your mood doesn't turn as grey as the sky in front of your doorsteps. The strong wind and rain fall are responsible for weather warning orange, so we had to stay inside most of the day. This must have been the kind of weather Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann had in his mind when he wrote "The Story of Flying Robert":

"When the rain comes tumbling down 
In the country or the town, 
All good little girls and boys 
Stay at home and mind their toys."

Every adult and lots of children in Germany know this story or at least have heard of the main character of this story book collection called "Shockheaded Peter" from 1845. 
This kind of weather makes it tricky to keep our three kids entertained all day long. Luckily we have a long hall that is big enough to roll up and down with the board pictured above. We got these boards two years ago at a local discounter store for about five euro each. Originally they were bought in order to move around heavy furniture, but our kids use the boards for sitting, lying and standing on them. It is great fun for them to roll up and down the hallway. I have to admit that it can become quite noisy, but I prefer this sound to the cranky noises from movement deprived kids. So let's rock 'n' roll! 

Kreisfarbenspiel :: Pimp up my Circle with Colour

In meinem Tanzunterricht arbeite ich gerne mit den Kindern im Kreis. Man hat alle Kinder im Blick und niemand kann sich verstecken. Allerdings kann es bereits einige Minuten dauern, bis sich ein akzeptabler Kreis gebildet hat. Damit es den Kindern beim Üben dieser Formation nicht zu langweilig wird (und das geht schnell), dachte ich mir dieses kleine Kreisfarbenspiel aus, das ich "Pizza" nenne.

Man bittet die Kinder, sich an den Händen zu fassen und einen Kreis zu formen. Wenn das noch zu schwierig ist, dann erst eine Linie bilden lassen, die  Hände des Nachbarn anfassen und  die erste und die letzte Person schließen dann die Linie zu einem Kreis.  Und nach einigem Hin und Her sieht das dann auch nach einer runden Form aus. Was dabei helfen kann, ist die Vorstellung von einer Pizza. 

Der Kreis stellt unsere Pizza dar. Hoffentlich sind die Kinder schön farbenfroh und abwechslungsreich angezogen, denn damit lassen sich folgende Aufgaben formulieren:

"Jedes Kind, das Rot/Orange trägt, geht in die Kreismitte und schmiert Tomatensauce auf unsere Pizza."

"Jedes Kind, das Grün trägt, belegt unsere Pizza mit Oliven."

"Jedes Kind, das Weiß trägt, sprenkelt unsere Pizza mit Salz."

Hier noch weitere Ideen:

Gelb = Käse, Paprika

Grün=Spinat, Ruccula, 

Schwarz = Pfeffer, schwarze Oliven

Lila=Aubergine

Rot= Chili-Schoten, Tomatenscheiben, Paprika

Braun= Pilze

Weiß=Ziegenkäse

Rosa=Schinken

Die Kinder werden nun sehr aufmerksam ihre Kleidung studieren, und falls man eine Farbe vergessen hat, werden sie schon einen daran erinnern und entwickeln super Pizzabeläge selbst.

Wenn die Pizza fertig belegt ist, mit beiden Händen die Pizza in den Ofen schieben. Dafür sich zur Kreismitte hinbewegen mit den Händen pressend. Laut oder leise "Au" oder "heiß" sagen und die Arme in die Luft reißen und sich wieder in die Kreisformation bewegen. Und nun? Essen!!! 

Meinen Kindern macht dieses Spiel viel Spaß. Wichtig ist aber, dass man schön mitmacht und sich am Ende auch den Magen mit dieser tollen Pizza voll schlägt.

In my class I like to line up the children in a circle formation - especially at the beginning and at the end of a session. Everyone will be focused on and no one can hide behind another person. Yet, it might take awhile until one has formed a circle. And it is even harder to stay in a circle while moving. Therefore I came up with this little game that my little ones enjoy while practicing a circle formation. I call it the Pizza Dance.

Let the kids form a circle. If this is already too tricky, ask them first to line up, hold hands and have the first and the last person in the line closing the circle. 

This round shape is our Pizza! Hopefully, the kids wear colorful clothes, because you start giving the following tasks (or/and come up with lots yourself):

"Everyone who wears RED/ORANGE spreads tomato sauce on our pizza."

"Everyone who wears GREEN puts olives on our pizza."

"Everyone who wears WHITE sprinkles salt on our pizza."

Here are some more ideas:

yellow=Cheese, Pepper

green= Spinach, Rocket, Chili

black=Pepper, Olives

Purple=Aubergine

Red=Chilis, Tomatos, Pepper

Brown=Mushrooms

White=Goats cheese, Salt

Pink=Ham

etc. 

The children will now study their clothes carefully. And if you have forgotten one color, they will remind you for sure and come up with some fancy pizza toppings themselves.

Once the pizza is fully prepared, push it into the oven (make a pressing movement with your hands ) and move to the centre of the circle. Say "ouch" or "hot" and throw your arms into the air. Move back to the periphery of the circle and, well, start eating!

My kids have lots of fun with this game. But I think it is essential that you really go for it and stuff yourself with this delicious pizza too.
